On behalf of Akurad Lawyers, a functional and unique office building was constructed on a special and attractive site near the harbor. The challenge was to reconcile character with optimal working comfort, and Verstraete.team gladly embraced this challenge.

The new office replaces an old storage facility with the same footprint, serving as a compelling example of repurposing, densification, and remediation. The walled site, set against the rugged backdrop of the harbor, also includes a rental dwelling and a dance school. The office building enjoys strong visibility.

Its new design contrasts with the large industrial buildings surrounding it. It is refined, tailored to the scale of a service-oriented office. It is playful yet rational, solid yet light, transparent yet sheltered.

This office building opens itself to the surroundings, framing the views beautifully. The generous glazing reflects the office's open culture and the transparency it aims to achieve. However, client privacy is ensured. The workspaces are spacious and comfortable.

The black aluminum exterior joinery is complemented by black-painted wooden cladding, seamlessly blending with the plastered facades. Inside, the structural elements are exposed, and the technical installations are integrated.

In addition to the office spaces, meeting rooms, and reception area, there is a multipurpose hall and a shower room. The building is also equipped with technical rooms, storage areas, and sanitary facilities.

The parking area is adorned with ornamental grasses and a tree, while cyclists have access to a covered bicycle storage facility.
