De Waterdam

De Waterdam is a residential care center located next to the municipal hospital in Roeselare. The project was carried out by Verstraete.team, with the construction process divided into three phases.

During the first phase, a new building was constructed, and a portion of the old wing on Handelsstraat was renovated. The section of WZC Ten Hove along Drafstraat was demolished, making way for a new four-story wing with 13 rooms on each floor. In the second phase, the remaining wing on Handelsstraat was refurbished, and investments were made in renovating the kitchen as part of the catering plan for OCMW Roeselare.

Throughout the building's finishing touches, emphasis was placed on maximizing comfort, ergonomics for staff members, spaciousness, recognizability, sustainability, and ecology (e.g., green energy), while also minimizing operational costs.

The living spaces in De Waterdam are more spacious and better tailored to the needs of heavily dependent residents, achieved through investments in home automation, comfort, and safety. Each floor provides ample room for movement, with two common areas and an outdoor terrace on every level. The building stands out distinctly in the streetscape, and maintenance-friendly and energy-efficient materials are consistently chosen.
