Westrozenbeke
VKW Tiendenberg
The new community building in Westrozebeke is magnificently situated. It occupies a unique location on a ridge, at the border between high and low, between built-up areas and open views, between culture and nature.
The views are framed and structured by the placement of walls. These transverse walls support two roofs that respond to the topography of the surroundings. A slight 'bend' in the roof distinguishes it from the surrounding buildings and creates a pleasant homely atmosphere in the multipurpose hall.
The walls are spaced at regular intervals, bringing necessary rationality to the building while also providing specificity through their subtle variations. Their profiles alternate, resulting in a distinctive spatial quality.
The building engages in a dialogue with its surroundings. On one hand, it aligns itself with the prevailing landscape, and on the other hand, it provides entrances and meeting spaces along the public connecting area between the building and the residential area. This zone is intentionally kept wide and will be filled with greenery.
